Ghosts Are Not Demons!
I am amazed at the ignorance displayed by many Christians who believe that ghosts are actually demons. In the first place, the Bible says no such thing, and in the second place, Jesus never said any such thing. The idea that ghosts are demons is a doctrine of men that has no scriptural basis whatsoever! It is a sad truth that many Christians spend very little, if any time
reading/studying the Bible for themselves and are unaware that the Bible mentions
ghosts many times. Jesus Himself was thought to be a ghost by His own
disciples who did not recognize Him when He was walking on the water
toward them (Matthew 14:22-26; Mark 6:45-52). Because the average
Christian spends so little, if any time in the Bible, when they are told
by their minister or Sunday school teacher that ghosts are actually
demons impersonating the dead, they accept it without giving it any
thought and are astonished to find out that ghosts are mentioned in the
Bible when it is shown to them. I also note that not once did Jesus ever
say that ghosts are demons and He certainly had plenty of opportunity
to do so. At Luke 24:36-43, Jesus was regarded as a ghost by His
followers and He had to partake of material food and be touched to
convince them that He wasn't! Whatever happened to following the noble example of the ancient Boreans who examined the scriptures daily to see if what they were being taught was actually what the scriptures taught (Acts 17:11)? Christians have gotten spiritually lazy and instead of studying the Bible for themselves to see what it teaches on any given subject, they take the word of their minister or Sunday school teacher as gospel, and this lazy attitude will get Christians in trouble every time. Each and every one of us as Christians are responsible for reading/studying the Word of God for ourselves. Your minister, Sunday school teacher, etc., cannot do it for you. For those self-proclaimed "Bible scholars" out there who insist that ghosts are actually demons, I would challenge you to show me where the Bible says so! I promise, you will not find it in the Bible! Now having said that, there have been instances where a demon
impersonated a deceased love one. This is why demons are also known as
"familiar spirits." These instances of impersonation are rare, but that does not mean or prove that ghosts are actually demons. In order for a demon to impersonate/pretend to be a ghost, then ghosts must of necessity be real for you cannot impersonate that which does not exist. A demon is still a demon even if it pretends to be ghost.
